Removal and installation of the executive cylinder of coupling

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove assembly of the air cleaner (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
2. Disconnect the hydraulic line from the executive cylinder, - for an otdavaniye of a nipple nut use a special cap key with a cutting head, prepare for collecting the spilled liquid, at once a zakuporta the open end of a tube.

Do not allow hit of hydraulic liquid on the painted body surfaces.

3. Turn out fixing bolts and remove assembly of the executive cylinder.
4. Installation is made upside-down. check a condition of a boot of a pusher, track reliability of landing of a pusher in a reception nest of the lever of switching off. Tighten fixing bolts with the required effort.
5. Fill in in the tank of the main cylinder necessary amount of hydraulic liquid of the required grade (see the Head Routine maintenance).
6. In conclusion pump over system (see the Section Removal of Air from a hydraulic path of the drive of switching off of coupling).

Removal, check of a state and installation of components of assembly of coupling

Remember that the dust produced in the course of wear of frictional overlays of the conducted clutch plate may contain noxious to health asbestos.

Do not blow off dust compressed air and try not to inhale it.

Do not apply to rubbing of components of coupling solvents on an oil basis, - use only special brake cleaners or pure methyl alcohol.

Put the used rags before utilization in hermetically closed container.


Removal

Typical design of assembly of coupling

For the purpose of ensuring access to coupling assembly usually remove the transmission, leaving the engine on the car.

If the engine is already removed for performance of the general or capital repairs, the condition of components of coupling has to be checked without fail.

Considering rather low cost of details and rather large volume of metalwork works on ensuring access to coupling assembly, it makes sense to make replacement of the last regardless of a condition of its components.

The description of the procedure of removal of coupling without extraction of the engine from the car is given below.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. Remove assembly of the air cleaner (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
3. Remove a speedometer drive cable (see the Head Korobk of gear shifting).
4. The car also establish to Poddomkratta it on props.
5. Remove a gear shifting box (see the Head Korobk of gear shifting).
6. Remove the executive cylinder of coupling (see the Section of the Power supply system and release).
7. Working in a diagonal order, in stages (on ј a turn for approach) evenly weaken six bolts of fastening of a basket of coupling to a flywheel, having completely unloaded a diaphragm spring. Reliably supporting assembly, finally turn out bolts, then separate a basket from a flywheel and remove knot from the car. Remove the release bearing and the lever of switching off of coupling.
8. In order to avoid loss of the conducted disk at removal of a basket, pass the tool intended for coupling centering throughout its nave.

Check of a condition of components

Most often violation of serviceability of functioning of coupling is connected with wear of frictional overlays of the conducted disk. Nevertheless, it is necessary to study also attentively a condition of all other components of assembly.

If at a surface of components of assembly there are oil traces / заполированные to gloss sites, it is necessary to reveal and remove the leak cause, - check a condition of a back epiploon of a bent shaft and an epiploon of a main shaft of the transmission, in case of need replace defective components.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Examine a working surface of a flywheel on existence of cracks, traces of an overheat, furrows and other damages. Insignificant defects can be eliminated by a pro-point in the conditions of a workshop of car service (the pro-point is recommended to be made regardless of a condition of a surface).
2. Check a condition of the directing bearing (see the Section Removal, service and installation of forward power shafts).
3. Estimate degree of wear of frictional overlays of the conducted clutch plate. The surface of slips has to tower over heads of rivets at least on 0.8 mm. Make sure of density of landing of all rivets, check the torsion springs / dampers for existence of cracks, traces of deformation and other mechanical damages. As it was already mentioned above, replacement of components of coupling it is reasonable to make every time at assembly dismantle therefore pay attention to the slightest errors.
4. Together with the conducted disk it is always replaced as well the release bearing.

Examples of wear of a diaphragm spring


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Estimate a condition of the processed surfaces of a press disk and petals of a diaphragm spring. At detection of defects replace assembly of a basket. Traces of easy polishing can be removed by means of a fine-grained emery paper. Through company car repair shops of the Subaru company it is always possible to get the restored coupling assembly on an exchange basis.
2. At the special stand by means of the dial measuring instrument of plunger type determine the size of a beating of the conducted clutch plate, - readings are taken on external border of a face surface of a disk. Compare results of measurement to requirements of Specifications.
3. Manually check smoothness of rotation of the release and directing bearings. In case of need make replacement.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before installation wipe the surfaces of a flywheel and a press disk which were exposed to machining with the rags moistened in acetone. It is extremely important to achieve full degreasing of working surfaces of components, as well as frictional overlays of the conducted disk. Touch components with only purely washed up hands.
2. Install the lever of switching off of coupling and the holder of the release bearing.
3. Slightly grease with molibdensoderzhashchy lubricant internal flutes of the holder of the release bearing, a vent of main shaft RKPP and the contact surfaces of the lever of switching off.
4. At installation of the new directing bearing press it in a landing nest aflush with a flywheel surface. Working strictly in a certain order, tighten bolts of fastening of a flywheel with the required effort.
5. Using the tool for coupling centering, establish the conducted disk on a flywheel.
6. Press assembly of a basket of coupling with the press disk enclosed in it to a flywheel. Track that located on a flywheel and a landing flange of a basket of a tag in the form of letters "About" about 120 were developed at an angle ° to each other.
7. By hand tighten bolts of fastening of assembly to a flywheel.
8. Make centering of components of assembly of coupling. The special tool is passed through a nave of the conducted disk and refuels in the directing bearing in an end face of a pin of a bent shaft. For alignment of components move the tool in different directions in the vertical and horizontal planes. Working in strictly certain order, in stages densely tighten assembly fastening bolts, then hold on them with the required effort. Take the tool for coupling centering.
9. Install into place the release bearing.
10. Install into place a gear shifting box (see the Head Korobk of gear shifting).
