System of a charge - the general information and precautionary measures

The generator of alternating current with the built-in regulator of tension, the control lamp / indicator of a charge, the rechargeable battery, safety locks and the electrical wiring connecting the listed components are among components of system of a charge. The system of a charge provides giving of electric food to system of ignition, lighting and alarm fixtures, the radio receiver and other onboard consumers of the electric power. The generator is put in action by the belt drive from a pulley of a bent shaft and is installed in a forward part of the engine. Additional information on electric connections of components of system of a charge can be gathered from schemes of electric connections (see the Head Onboard electric equipment).

Problem of the regulator of tension is restriction of tension developed by the generator in the set limits. The regulator prevents the overloads of contours and the other unpleasant phenomena connected with power surges.

The system of a charge does not need regular service. Nevertheless, it is necessary to check periodically a condition of a driving belt of the generator, battery, a connecting electrical wiring and its terminal connections (see the Head Routine maintenance).

The control lamp of a charge which is built in in an instrument guard quickly joins at turn of the ignition key in position of ON and has to go out right after implementation of start of the engine. The refusal of a lamp of switching off testifies to malfunctions in system of a charge. On some models in an instrument guard the voltmeter allowing the driver to trace in due time deviations of onboard tension from norm in addition is installed. At a release of indications of the voltmeter out of limits of admissible range it is necessary to make check of system of a charge.

When joining terminal connections of electric chains of the cars equipped with the generator of alternating current it is necessary to observe special precautionary measures:
    At connection of an electrical wiring of the battery do not allow polarity violation to the generator at all; Before applying arc welding at body repair disconnect an electrical wiring from plugs of the generator and the rechargeable battery; You do not make start of the engine at the charger connected to the battery At all; Always, before making battery charging from the external power supply, disconnect from it both wires (at first negative); Try not to allow hits of hands, hair and free parts of clothes in contact with the rotating driving belt of the generator during made at the working engine of checks; Remember that the generator is connected directly to the battery both its overloads and short circuits are capable to cause ignition of an electrical wiring and to be a cause of the fire; Before starting steam cleaning of a motive compartment wrap the generator in a plastic bag which then should be fixed by rubber bandages reliably.
At excessively low generating voltage ground the plug F, start the engine and measure tension on the battery, - if the result exceeds nominal rate, replace the regulator, at excessively low indications check a condition of the generator


Check of a condition of system of a charge

Remember that violations of functioning of system of a charge are far not necessarily connected with failures of the generator. First of all always you make the following elementary checks:
    Check a state and effort of a tension of a driving belt of the generator (see the Head Routine maintenance). In case of need make replacement; Check reliability of tightening of fixing bolts of the generator; Check a condition of an electrical wiring and electric connections of the generator; At the corresponding complete set check a condition of the fusible insert established between the traction relay of a starter and the generator or a condition of big main safety locks in a motive compartment. In case of identification of the beaten-out elements, establish and eliminate the reason of the overloads taking place, then replace defective components; Check a condition of all safety locks included in an electric chain of system of a charge. Location of safety locks and fusible inserts can vary depending on model and year of release of the car.
    f) Start the engine and estimate intensity of the noise background published by the generator; Check electrolyte density in banks of the rechargeable battery, in case of need make recharge of the last; Make sure of completeness of a charge of the battery, - one faulty can can be the reason of a recharge of the battery); Disconnect from the battery at first negative, then positive wires.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!

Estimate a condition of wires of the battery in places of their connection them to polar plugs of the last. Check reliability of fastening of terminal clips.

Having carefully smoothed out contact plugs, connect the battery.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. By means of the voltmeter measure tension given by the battery at the killed engine, - the result of measurement has to make about 12 Century.
2. Start the engine and repeat check: this time indications have to make 14.1 ÷ 14.8 Century.
3. Include head headlights, - at regularly functioning system of a charge tension has to fall at first, then be restored to the previous level.
4. If the size of the measured tension considerably exceeds nominal rate, replace tension regulator.
5. At excessively low indications make checks of the regulator of tension and the generator.
