Steering column, - the general information, precautionary measures

The steering column of abnormally developing design is included in a basic equipment of all models. The shaft the helmsman of a column is connected by the lower end by means of the cardan hinge to a shaft of the leading gear wheel of rack transfer. In a stupichny part of a steering wheel, also standardly, the safety cushion module is installed.

Before starting service of components the helmsman of a column it is necessary to make without fail deactivation of a safety cushion (SRS) which casual operation can lead to getting injured (see the Head Onboard electric equipment).

It is possible to start service of the SRS components not less than 20 seconds later after a detachment of a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!

At all installation on the car of modules of a safety cushion from other car is not allowed! Use only patent company knots.

In case of cracks or other mechanical damages of a stupichny overlay of a steering wheel the last should be replaced surely. Try not to allow heatings of a slip to temperature more than 90 °C. Try as it is possible to study more attentively information given on the labels fixed on covers of modules of safety cushions.

Having finished service of safety cushions without fail check serviceability of functioning of a control lamp of SRS.

Service of SRS modules should be made in goggles!

You do not make verification of electric conductivity of the modules of safety cushions removed from the car at all.

The removed SRS modules should be put on a workbench surely decorative cover up, at transfer of the module you hold it a cover from yourself.

At SRS exit out of operation the car follows at the first opportunity to drive away on car repair shop for performing detailed diagnostics of system and performance of necessary recovery repair.
